welcome to my (old) new space

 this is a blog space i created back in 2011. when i had to move back home during college because i lost my drivers license and had nothing else to do with time. i had no idea that a few (well more than just a few) years later id actually be a "blogger" but lately i havent had a blog in a year due to technical issues and i just miss having a creative outlet. so i have decided to reactive this blogspot. (dont judge the past posts lol) this is going to be very personal to me moving forward. i plan to use this as more of a journal, a place to share my thoughts; my journey -not necessarily just links and fashion trends. i hope you will follow along with me!

simple, holistic, organic, and all that good stuff

I have recently begun, attempting, to gradually make the transformation into a more organic/natural, zen-ful, healthy way of living. Ive stalked plenty of blogs, ordered way too many books from amazon, spent too much money on organic foods for the kitchen, ive even bought a small new yoga wardrobe. My current status is - I have a belly full of some bizarre green drink I just downed, with ingredients like wheat grass, algae, barley, flax seed, and Lord knows what else was in that concoction, also I feel mildly paralyzed in my arms and thighs due to going from 0 to 60 in my Yoga Power Poses the past few days, that my body was clearly NOT properly prepared for, not to mention I have SEVERE cramps in my left hand from trying to read and take notes on a wide variety of books pertaining to this new lifestyle; "Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr" is currently on deck and I am LOVING it. I've tried to limit my use of beauty products, that are not "natural" so last night I went into the kitchen, grabbed some honey and a jug of a milk and proceeded to throw it in the bath and soak my body in milk and honey while having coconut oil in my hair and brown sugar and honey on my face! As you can tell, Im not someone who does ANYTHING in moderation. and making this radical changes is no exception. Im also incorporating daily gratitude lists, positive "mirror affirmations", and daily entries in a prayer journal in hopes to grow spiritually through this process as well as, becomes physically more healthy! I just wanted to share a FEW of my findings!

FOR THE HOME:
Tips for the bedroom: 1) Clear clutter from under your bed for a calmer sleep. 2) Place your bed against a solid wall and use a headboard to create stability. 3) Use the accent colours of pink and peach to attract love, light blue and lavender for relaxation, and red/burgundy for passion. 4) Remove all mementos, photos and furniture from a past relationship for current love to thrive. 5) Pair items together such as two candles, two photos, two figurines to boost the energy of being a “couple.”
Tips for the bathroom: 1) Keep the toilet seat down and bathroom door closed to keep prosperity energy inside the home. 2) Use colours like green and yellow, which symbolize health and wellbeing in feng shui. 3) Place a night light that stays on 24 hours a day to bring energy inside. 4) Place positive quotes or post-it notes near the mirror to start/end your day with gratitude and a smile. 5) Use mirrors in abundance in the bathroom but don’t hang one that reflects the toilet.
Tips for the Living Room: 1) Clear clutter from the floor since it brings the energy down in the space 2) Go through your bookshelves and donate books you will never read or ones that have negative titles/stories. 3) Place your sofa in a welcoming position. You should not see the back of the sofa as you walk in. 4) Clean your windows. Dirty windows represent the idea that you aren’t seeing life clearly. 5) Create a purposeful room that shares your passions, values and interests. Place photos from places you’ve travelled, mementos and artwork that express your uniqueness. 6) Enclose the TV in a cabinet so it doesn’t become the focal point. Communicating, playing, sharing ideas and relaxing in the living room are essential for a happy life.
ESSENTIAL OILS!
Essential oils can be used aromatically, topically, or taken internally.

Home Remedies/First Aid Uses
  • DIY Vapo-Rub. To make your own Vapo-Rub, just add an essential oil such as eucalyptus to a carrier oil and rub on chest, back and the bottoms of feet to relieve congestion and coughing. Try this recipe. {Eucalyptus}
  • First Aid for Cuts and Scrapes. Combine Lavender or Melaleuca (tea tree) oil with a carrier oil and apply to cuts and scrapes. {Lavender, Melaleuca}
  • Insect/Bug Bites (Itching). Add 2-3 drops lavender essential oil to 1 TBSP carrier oil and apply to location. {Lavender}
  • Cold Sores and Canker Sores. Dilute Melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil and apply 1-2 drops directly to cold sore. {Melaleuca}

    • Floor Cleaner. If you’re looking for a simple and fresh citrus floor cleaner, only water, castile soap, and essential oils. {Sweet orange, lemon}
    • Laundry. If you make your own laundry detergent, you can add essential oil to scent it or you can add 3-5 drops of essential oil to your detergent before each load. {Lavender}
    • Removing Stickers (replacement for Goo-Be-Gone). Use several drops of lemon essential oil or other citrus based oil to remove sticker gunk, such as when you want to get a label off of a jar. {Lemon}
    •  Clean your mattress. Add several drops of essential oil to a cup of baking soda and sprinkle over mattress. Leave for an hour and then vacuum up. {Lavender}
    • Personal/Body Care Uses

      • Salt Scrub. Same concept as a sugar scrub, except using salt. I love using eucalyptus and peppermint.
      • Body Oils. Mix 1 cup carrier oil with 30-60 drops essential oil. Use as a moisturizer after a shower or add to a bath.

      • Mouthwash. make your own mouthwashusing peppermint essential oil. {Peppermint}
      • Blemish Remover. Put a drop of Melaleuca (tea tree) oil on a blemish and watch it disappear. {Melaleuca}

We all have to have a goal to work towards ,right? This is such a beautiful and inspiring video!

DAILY ROUTINE ACCORDING TO DEEPAK:

This is what the ideal, universal-aligning day would look like:
6am-10am and 6pm-10pm: Your body is hypometabolic, or at its lowest phase of metabolism. Deepak says it’s a good idea to try and spend time in silence around six in the morning and six in the evening. It’s best to meditate in the early part of this phase, and to exercise in the middle of this phase.
10am-2pm: Your body’s metabolic fire is at its highest. Deepak says this is the time to have your biggest meal, because your body will metabolise the food much better.
2pm-6pm: This is a good time to be active, to learn new mental skills, or to engage in physical activities.
6pm: Around this time, preferably before sunset, is a good time to have dinner. Deepak says it’s best to make dinner a lighter meal, and to have at least a two- to three-hour interval between dinner and sleep.
10-10.30pm: Aim to get to bed by this time and you’ll have an ideal sleep and great dreams.
2am-6am: This is a good time to dream.

NATURAL BEAUTY:

I honestly feel like COCONUT OIL (Virgin, Organic) is the HOLY GRAIL of all beauty products. I put it in my hair, on put it on my face, I put it on my body, I put it in the cooking pan. It  has increased my hair growth, made it incredibly shiny and smooth and my face always has that dewy glow now form lathering it on in the evenings! There are so many blogs and webpages that talk about the benefits, for your health and for your beauty, of coconut oil! Check them out!
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (once again, organic) is a runner up! It detoxifies your body, promotes weight loss, helps with digestion, helps alleviate skin problems, creates soft and shiny hair. Drink it with water, soak in a bath with it, use it as a salad dressing - get creative! Just like the coconut oil, there are tons of webpages and blog entries on ACV!
HONEY (raw, pure honey) is my next favorite multi-tasker for beauty and health! Its an anti-aging treatment when used in a face mask, a natural cure for sleeplessness, a great weight loss agent, treats a sore throat and a cough as a natural remedy, it cures yeast infections, athlete's foot, bad breathe - you name it! Just like the other products, there are countless websites and blogs dedicated to honey and its benefits. Who knew?
Green Tea, Olive Oil and Brown Sugar are some more POWER HOUSE beauty and health products :)

the power of words

People, humans, we all seem to forget how POWERFUL our words can be. "Stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" I wish that was true but unfortunately it's not. I am an extremely sensitive and sometimes insecure person; hurtful words have a way of taking up a large permanent residence in my heart and not allowing any positive, uplifting, or encouraging words any to get in. I have decided to turn to the Bible to try and use the verses as a way to evict the hurtful words from my heart. I know that I am guilty of not recognizing the power of my words and gossiping or saying hurtful things in the heat of the moment, it is easily done and we are all guilty of it, but there is something to be learned from these verses...even though it is so easy to just merely read these without fully digesting them and much more difficult to implement them into our thoughts and actions. I believe that reading them with repetition with eventually allow them to change our perspective and reaction. Not only how to forgive people who hurt us with their words but to learn how to control our own tongues.

"But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. " Mark 11:25

"Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble." Proverbs 21:23

"But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Matthew 5:44

"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” - Romans 12:19

"If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.  Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good."-Romans 12:17-21

"If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace and work to maintain it. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil." -1 Peter 3 9-12

"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." Ephesians 4:29

Betrayed To-Do List
1.) Let God Take Revenge
2.) Forgive Betrayer
3.) Pray for them
